People in position of authority in Nigeria have been urged to put measures in place that can make life compatible for Persons Living With Disabilities [PWDs].

Special Adviser to Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola on Youth and Social Development, Dr Enitan Dolapo Badru who made this plea recently while flagging-off the one-day Disability Expo 2014,organized by Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs [LASODA] said it is important because they may later become beneficiaries of such measures as disability does not respect anybody.

Dr Badru gave kudos to the LASODA Governing Board for their relentless efforts in coming out with different innovations aimed at improving the welfare of PWDs in Lagos State, adding that the Lagos government’s commitment to putting smiles on the faces of PWDs knows no bound, hence the staging of today’s Disability Expo.

The Chairman LASODA Governing Board, Mrs Tolulope Animashaun in her remark, said the expo was meant to give greater opportunity to PWDs so as to prove to the world what they can do if given a level playing ground.

More than fifty people living with various forms of disabilities as well as stakeholders took part in the one-day expo where artworks, leather materials, costumes, mobility gadgets etc were displayed for sale. The expo also featured seminars/workshop where disability related topics such as Down syndrome, autism, hearing impairment, cerebral palsy were presented.
